Schachspiel am Kamin

My initiation into the world of chess came from my father, at a simple board. It wasn't a family heirloom in the traditional sense, yet it would become one – the starting point of a lifelong passion. In a rapidly changing world, I sought permanence, something that transcended fleeting trends. I found it in the art of chessboard making.

Since the market offered few boards that met my aesthetic and quality standards, I decided to take matters into my own hands. What began as a necessity evolved into an obsessive pursuit of perfection. But the path there was not easy: it took time, numerous attempts, and countless hours of refinement before I was truly satisfied with one of my boards for the first time. This process of learning and continuous improvement continues to shape my work today.

Each of my chessboards is the result of this relentless engagement with material, form, and function. I select woods of exceptional provenance and grain, which not only appeal visually but also tell a story. The craftsmanship is carried out with the utmost precision, using traditional techniques refined by my own pursuit of innovation. The result is unique pieces that are far more than mere game accessories: they are expressions of craftsmanship at the highest level, investments in enduring value, and future family heirlooms.

In an age characterized by rapid change and mass production, my chessboards represent a counter-movement – a return to quality, permanence, and the timeless elegance of chess. They are created for connoisseurs who appreciate the exceptional and understand the connection between tradition and innovation. They are for those who understand that true value endures across generations.
